Darwin Project exits early access in January 2020

The game has been in Xbox Game Preview for a while now, and after going free to play, we haven’t heard much about the title. Today, developer Scavengers Studio announced that Darwin Project launching in January 2020. After more than 3.6 million players braved the cold on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, the full release will also make its much-requested way to PlayStation 4.

Darwin Project takes place in a post-apocalyptic Canada. As civilization prepares for an upcoming ice age, a twisted new project emerges, half science experiment and half entertainment. Unsurprisingly, it’s called the Darwin Project and it challenges participants to survive the cold and fight to the death in a treacherous arena.

According to the developer, the game offers a competitive multiplayer third-person experience with an emphasis on survival. There’s a strong focus on crafting and setting up traps. However it goes deeper then that. Aside from surviving the cold, you have to track opponents and even negotiate temporary alliances in order to be the last one standing when the sun goes up.
