Civilization VI: Red Death unleashes post-apocalyptic Battle Royale mayhem
The Battle Royale genre is mainly known for its shooters, but Civilization VI is jumping on board with its latest multiplayer game mode, Red Death. Available for free, the multiplayer mode pits up to 12 players against one another in an absurd post-apocalyptic race to be the last faction alive.
In Red Death, players choose from eight factions, each with their own distinct advantages. And they’re definitely out there. Check out the trailer below:
The game mode was developed by Firaxis multiplayer engineering lead Bradley Olson as an April Fools joke for the Civilization VI team. After organizing a play session, Firaxis says, the team started rapidly iterating on the design, expanding units, coming up with a whole new art style to fit the post-apocalyptic setting.
