Check out our Flashback video, we revisit the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini

If you’re one of our frequent readers here at GSMArena, you’re likely aware of our Flashback series. Usually posted over the weekends, we look back at some outdated tech that offers insight on how tech has evolved since then. We’ve also started making Flashback videos highlighting some of the hardware that we played with years ago.

This time, we’re visiting the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini that we first reviewed more than ten years ago in 2010. With its chunky 16mm profile, the Xperia X10 mini is a pre-cursor to what we’d eventually see materialize as Sony’s Compact lineup of phones.

During a time when feature phones were still widely popular, the Xperia X10 mini was far more pocketable than most new smartphones, and its software was designed as such. It had full access to the Android Market and its huge catalog of apps.

The phone’s 2.55-inch (320×240 px) screen used a custom skin over Android 1.6 Donut that was optimized for a tiny display with thumb-friendly shortcuts in the launcher. The was a 5MP single camera on the back, and it only recorded 480p video at 30fps.
