Carrier-unlocked Galaxy S10 finally gets Android 12 update in the US, but with older security patch

While the Galaxy S10 series started getting the Android 12 update three months ago, the new software was limited to international variants of the devices. Towards the end of January 2022, the update reached carrier-locked models of the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and the Galaxy S10 5G in the US.

Now, even the carrier-unlocked models of the Galaxy S10 have started getting the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update in the US. The new software comes with firmware version G97xU1UEU6HVA1 and is available on all carrier networks, including AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellular South, Comcast, C-Spire, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Virgin Mobile.

The new update brings Android 12 along with One UI 4.0. It features a revamped UI design with the Color Palette feature, improved AoD and Dark Mode, better iconography, and thicker sliders. It also brings improved privacy and security through privacy indicators (for mic and camera usage), quick setting toggles to cut off camera and mic access system-wide, and a Privacy Dashboard.

The Android 12 update for the Galaxy S10 series also features improved versions of all stock Samsung apps, including Bixby, Bixby Routines, My Files, Samsung Camera, Samsung Gallery, Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard, Samsung Notes, and SmartThings. The company has also improved accessibility features on its 2019 flagship phones.

Apart from all the new features, the update also brings the January 2022 security patch that fixes over 50 privacy and security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy phones.

If you are a Galaxy S10 series smartphone user in the US, you can download the latest software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. Alternatively, you can do a clean install of the update by downloading the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flashing it manually.
