Carrier-locked Galaxy Z Fold 2 getting Android 12 update in the US

Samsung had released the Android 12 update to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the last week of December 2021. However, the update was limited to the international variants of the phone. Now, the carrier-locked variants of the foldable phone have started getting the major Android OS update in the US.

The Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update for the carrier-locked Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with firmware version F916USQU2FVAB in the US. The new software is rolling out on Sprint and T-Mobile networks in the country, and other networks could release the update soon. The update also brings the February 2022 security patch.

If you are a Galaxy Z Fold 2 user in the US, you can check for the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Galaxy Z Fold 2 One UI 4 features

The One UI 4 update brings a revamped UI design with the Color Palette feature, bigger sliders, themed icons, and newly-designed widgets. There’s a new widget picker UI as well. AoD, Dark Mode, and lock screen widgets have also been improved. The South Korean firm has also improved its stock apps, Bixby, and Bixby Routines.

Privacy and security have been given a boost through privacy indicators when the camera and mic are being used. There are dedicated quick setting toggles to cut off access to the camera and microphone across the system. AR Emoji, camera app, sharing menu, and accessibility features have also been improved.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the second half of 2020 with Android 10-based One UI 2.5 out of the box. The foldable phone received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update in early 2021 and the Android 12-based One UI 4 update a few weeks ago. It will get at least one more Android OS update in the future.
