Best answer: The RAM on the Razer Blade 14 is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. If you’re looking for an upgradeable version you’ll need the Razer Blade 15.

Smaller size means compromises on upgrades

Anyone who’s ever used a Razer Blade 15, or indeed the Razer Blade 17, will be familiar with its upgradeability. Storage and RAM can both be added to, which certainly helps with it leading a longer lifespan. But there’s a reason you can upgrade the RAM generally on larger laptops like these.

The larger available space means that standard SODIMM memory can be used, and it’s this that’s required to allow buyers to upgrade in the future. Unfortunately in most cases, you won’t find this on laptops under 15 inches, and that’s also true of the Razer Blade 14.

The RAM is soldered to the motherboard inside the laptop and as such, you cannot upgrade it beyond the 16GB it comes with. Considering the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU and RTX 3080 that Razer also squeezed in there, though, it’s a trade-off worth making.

Larger Razer Blade for the upgrades

If you want to upgrade your Razer Blade down the line then the best course of action is to get the Razer Blade 15, which is currently the absolute best gaming laptop you can buy. The Razer Blade 17 is also a possibility, but it’s a decent bit larger than the Blade 14. The Razer Blade 15 is only a slight increase in overall size and weight so it’s the best alternative.

SSD and RAM upgrades are possible on the Razer Blade 15 and need nothing more than the correct screwdriver to take the base off, and a small amount of your time.
