Call of Duty: Modern Warfare not tracking progress, fix incoming (update)

Updated March 9, 2020: Infinity Ward has confirmed on Twitter that they are still looking for a fix for this issue this morning. However, some players are reporting that tracking is back on for them, so it might be worth a tentative look to see if the game’s progression systems are working for you. We’ll update again when Infinity Ward has confirmed the issue is fixed for everyone.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been a colossal success so far, judging by its initial record sales weekend in 2019, and sees millions of daily players jumping in. Lately, it seems that those players can’t progress or move forward in the game anymore. A new multiplayer bug affecting the blockbuster title is causing all progression to not be tracked, meaning players can’t complete missions, gain XP in matches, rank up in the Battle Pass to unlock new content, or even work on improving their game stats. Infinity Ward, the developer behind the game, has acknowledged on Twitter that they are now aware of the issue.

The bug has been going on since at least this afternoon, and Infinity Ward is still investigating potential fixes. Hopefully players who are still in the game will be able to retrieve all their lost progress, since the biggest appeal of Call of Duty’s infamous multiplayer mode is the nearly endless number of ways players can track their achievements and history in the game. We’ll update this article as soon as we have more information, but there doesn’t appear to be any real solution for this. If you’re worried about losing progress, it might be best to stay off the game for a few hours while Infinity Ward finds a fix.
