Activision has debuted the latest entry to its bestselling shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, reviving its hit subseries centered on modern-day combat. Setting out to capture the challenges of today’s warzones, it delivers an experience spanning specialist operations to guerrilla warfare. Backed by a strong narrative and multiplayer offerings, Modern Warfare’s revival packs a ton for shooter fans.
However, while Modern Warfare has hit store shelves, the game is causing issues for Microsoft’s latest flagship console. Xbox One X users are reporting crashes when playing the title, with instances of the game freezing or console shutting down entirely. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer, Infinity Ward, has responded to feedback, assuring the studio is “already working on a fix.”
We are seeing a small number of Xbox One X players experience crashes with Modern Warfare. We are already working on a fix. Thanks for your patience and feedback. We will keep you posted.

While some users have reported issues across the Xbox One family, crashes appear to be most prevalent for Xbox One X users. Unfortunately, no workaround has been provided as of publication, meaning you’ll need to sit tight until an update is delivered. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare isn’t the only title to experience issues with Xbox One X, with Borderlands 3 and Anthem among those affected at launch in 2019.
In the meantime, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now available on Xbox One, starting at $60 via Amazon.
