Borderlands 3 patch to prevent Xbox One X overheating is coming soon

Let’s say that you’re an Xbox One X owner and picked up Borderlands 3. Now, you put in the disc, play for a few hours, and notice that the console gives you a warning that the game is causing it to overheat. While it can be terrifying in the moment, the good news is that you aren’t alone. Numerous Xbox One X owners are reporting that Borderlands 3 is causing their consoles to overheat and shut down to prevent damage.

From my understanding, the developer, Gearbox Software, didn’t really comment on this problem. Luckily, WCCFtech managed to get a statement from the publisher, 2K Games. In a report, the outlet said the following.

2K has confirmed that a Borderlands 3 Xbox One X patch is currently in the works to address an issue that shuts down Microsoft’s console. Since the game’s launch earlier this month, numerous players on Xbox One X have reported that he game is caused their console to overheat. On various occasions, this has resulted in the Xbox One X shutting down in order to prevent damage to the console.

Hopefully, this will fix the problem. There also seems to be another controversy when it comes to the resolution. On the Microsoft Store, it says that the game runs at 4K. However, Digital Foundry’s analysis said that the title runs at 1800p on both Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro. We’ve reached out to 2K for comment and shall update you as soon as we receive a response. There’s a lot going on with the console ports of Borderlands 3, I’ll tell you that!
