Skyrim Special EditionSource: Bethesda Softworks

Yes, really. During QuakeCon 2021, Bethesda Game Studios announced an Anniversary Edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skryim. Players who own Skyrim Special Edition will get a free upgrade to the corresponding Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or PS5 current-gen versions of the games. Oh, and Bethesda added fishing, alongside over 500 pieces of Creation Club content in the Anniversary Edition.

Microsoft recently acquired Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media. While not every game will be exclusive, many will be, including Bethesda Game Studios’ next big role-playing game, a science-fiction title called Starfield. Starfield is currently slated to arrive on November 11, 2022, exactly 11 years after the first launch of Skyrim.

Other future Bethesda Softworks titles coming exlusively to Xbox platforms include Redfall, a vampire-hunting game developed by Arkane Austin.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the best-selling western role-playing games of all time, with well over 30 million copies sold, as one of the best Xbox games available.

Bethesda also announced a new port of the original Quake during QuakeCon 2021, which is now available on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch.
