Turtle Beach has been making sublime gaming headsets for years now, with many of its products competing fiercly with other brands for the title of both best Xbox One headset and best PC gaming headset. At Windows Central, we love all of Turtle Beach’s modern headsets. There can only be one winner, though, and for us it’s the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas due to how excellently it performs, its stellar comfort, and its affordable price.

Best Overall: Turtle Beach Elite Atlas

For both Xbox and PC players, it doesn’t get better than the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas. It’s incredibly durable thanks to its metallic frame and quality plastic, and the large, thickly-padded earcups and adjustable headband make the headsets dream to wear. On top of this, the sound quality is absolutely stellar, ensuring that you’ll never miss important audio cues in-game. Lastly, the noise-canceling microphone does an excellent job amplifying your voice to people in Discord or your Xbox Live party without transmitting background noise. When you consider that all of this high-end quality comes for the mid-range price of $100, it’s easy to see why the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas is our favorite choice.

Pros:

  • Incredibly comfortable
  • Excellent sound and mic quality
  • Very durable
  • Excellent value for the money
  • Works on both Xbox and PC

Cons:

  • Slightly leaky audio

Best Xbox Wireless: Turtle Beach Stealth 700

Turtle Beach Stealth 700

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 is your best bet if you’re after a high-quality wireless headset for Xbox One or Xbox Series X. The sound quality is strong, and the headset’s mic is clear (it even comes with active noise cancellation and mic monitoring), and the wireless connection itself is stable and reliable. Additionally, the plastics and bonded leather used for the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 are durable, though not on the same level as the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas is. As a whole, the headset is pretty comfortable, too, although it does fit a little snuggly. Lastly, you get about 10 hours of battery life, which is solid. Overall, for fans on Xbox who want to cut the cord, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 is the best option. You can use it on PC, too, but you’ll need an Xbox Wireless Adapter. It also comes with limited Bluetooth functionality, as it can connect to your smartphone for mobile listening.

Pros:

  • Pretty comfortable
  • Strong sound and mic quality
  • Affordable for wireless
  • Solid battery life
  • Bluetooth for mobile is a nice touch

Cons:

  • More expensive than wired options
  • Requires adapter for use on PC

If you liked the sound of the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas but want to stick to something wireless, look no further than the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero. It features a very similar design to the Elite Atlas, right down to the metal frame, thick earcups, and padded headband. That means that it’s equally as comfortable to use. Additionally, the stellar sound and mic quality is retained here as well. In terms of battery, the headset gets about 15-20 hours, which is excellent. Unfortunately, you can’t use this headset with Xbox, but aside from that downside, the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero is a phenomenal wireless option for PC players.

Pros:

  • Incredibly comfortable
  • Excellent sound and mic quality
  • Very durable
  • Great battery life
  • Affordable for wireless

Cons:

  • Volume wheel feels “sticky”
  • Can’t be used with Xbox

Listen in without the wires

The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero is essentially a wireless version of the original Elite Atlas, and it’s just as excellent as its wired cousin.

Best Budget: Turtle Beach Recon 200

The Turtle Beach Recon 200 is ideal for people who want an all-purpose budget gaming headset. It’s less durable than Turtle Beach’s more premium headsets because it uses cheaper plastics, and the comfort level is also a considerable step down since the earcups sport clammy leatherette materials. Also, the sound and mic quality isn’t on the same level as options like the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas either. However, what’s there is functional and solid overall, and considering this headset only costs $60, it’s a stellar choice for people on a budget. The fact that it uses a 3.5mm wired connection makes it compatible with both Xbox and PC, too, which is nice.

Pros:

  • Solid sound and mic quality
  • Works across Xbox and PC
  • Incredibly affordable

Cons:

  • Less durability
  • Leatherette earcups are clammy

Best Budget Xbox Wireless: Turtle Beach Stealth 600

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 is a less-expensive version of the Stealth 700 that has less features and a less sturdy build. Unlike the Stealth 700 that comes with active noise cancellation, mic monitoring, and Bluetooth with mobile devices, the Stealth 600 only comes with mic monitoring. Additionally, the build of the Stealth 600 is thinner than the Stealth 700, meaning it’s not as tough. That being said, the audio and mic quality is the exact same, the battery lasts 15 hours as opposed to the Stealth 700’s 10 hours, and the price is $50 lower than the Stealth 700. This makes it our favorite budget wireless option for Xbox players.

Pros:

  • Pretty comfortable
  • Strong sound and mic quality
  • Very affordable
  • Strong battery life

Cons:

  • Less features than the Stealth 700
  • Less durable than the Stealth 700
  • Requires adapter for use on PC

Best Budget Xbox Wireless

Affordable wireless

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 is an excellent alternative to the Stealth 700, offering similar performance for a lower price.

Bottom line

Turtle Beach has been making stellar headsets for years, and whether you’re looking for the best Xbox One headset or the best PC gaming headset, Turtle Beach has something that will appeal to you. Turtle Beach’s headsets offer premium sound quality, excellent microphones, top-notch durability and comfort, and affordable prices.

Out of all of Turtle Beach’s superb products, though, we feel that the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas offers the best overall balance of quality, versatility, and price. It’s immense comfort means that you can wear it all day long without issue, and its audio and mic quality punches far above the headset’s mid-range $100 price. Pair that with its durable build and compatibility across both Xbox and PC, and you have a headset that remains on top of the competition even two years after it released.
