Battle royale ‘Darwin Project’ leaves early access

The game has been in Xbox Game Preview for a while now, and after going free to play, we haven’t heard much about the title. Today, developer Scavengers Studio announced that Darwin Project is leaving early access today. After more than 3.6 million players braved the cold on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, the full release will also make its much-requested way to PlayStation 4.
Scavengers said that there was a lot of new content for players to enjoy with the 1.0 launch. There’s a new Class System with Jet Wings, the Grapple Gauntlet, and Headhunter Drone. Plus, you can also acquire a lot of new cosmetics to express your style.

For those unfamilar with the game, Darwin Project takes place in a post-apocalyptic Canada. As civilization prepares for an upcoming ice age, a twisted new project emerges, half science experiment and half entertainment. Unsurprisingly, it’s called the Darwin Project and it challenges participants to survive the cold and fight to the death in a treacherous arena.

According to the developer, the game offers a competitive multiplayer third-person experience with an emphasis on survival. There’s a strong focus on crafting and setting up traps. However it goes deeper then that. Aside from surviving the cold, you have to track opponents and even negotiate temporary alliances in order to be the last one standing when the sun goes up.
