Avengers game may be around 30 hours long at launch

Marvel’s Avengers is an upcoming action game from Square Enix, but the reveal didn’t go as smoothly as the company anticipated. When the title was announced a few months ago, people criticized it for the “distorted” character faces and linearity of the missions. Instead of a sprawling adventure, the game came across as a brawler.

Recently, Comic Book got the chance to speak with Crystal Dynamics Senior Brand Director Rich Briggs. While the team is still working on tweaking the way characters look, we learned something new about the game. It seems like the title’s length will be comparable to past Crystal Dynamics games like Tomb Raider.

Briggs said the following when asked about the length. The post-launch content will hopefully make the experience longer while providing new, meaningful stories.

I think it’ll depend on exactly how deep you want to go into it. So if you think about previous… games, you know that if you want to be playing your way through the core story, it’s going to be in that area, 10 to 12 hours. But if you want to see everything there is, and do all the side missions and everything else, you’re generally looking at 30 plus hours in the Tomb Raider games. So we’re not putting exact numbers on it just yet, but you can expect something comparable to what we’ve done in the past with that regard. And then, of course, you have the extended narrative and the extended game plan, more heroes post-launch.

Are you content with the length of the game? Did you hope it would be longer? Let us know.
