August 2022 security update widely rolling out to the Galaxy Note 20 series

Samsung is rolling out the August 2022 security update to the Galaxy Note 20 series worldwide. The carrier-locked and unlocked versions of the smartphones have already received the update. Now, the update is rolling out to the devices in other parts of the world.

The latest software update for the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra comes with firmware version N98xxXXU4FVGA in various Asia, European, and South American markets. The update is available in Australia, too. In China and Hong Kong, the Galaxy Note 20 series is getting updated with firmware version N98x0ZSS3FVG6. The update fixes dozens of privacy and security vulnerabilities, including the ones related to MAC address leaks, Samsung DeX, Samsung Knox, and improper access control.

If you are a Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra owner and live in any of the regions mentioned above, you can now download the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 20 series in mid-2020 with Android 10 on board. A few months later, they received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update, and earlier this year, they received the Android 12-based One UI 4 update. They will get one more Android OS update in the future.
