August 2021 security update starts rolling out to the Galaxy Note 20 internationally

Samsung had released the August 2021 security update to the Galaxy Note 20 series last week. However, the update was limited to the unlocked variants of the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the US. Now, the company has started rolling out the latest security update to the international variants of the smartphones.

The Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra have started getting a new update in Panama and Paraguay. The new update has firmware version N98xFXXS3DUG9 and it includes the August 2021 security patch that fixes 40 vulnerabilities related to privacy and security. The update might also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements, but don’t expect it to bring any new features or user-facing changes.

If you are a Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra user in any of the countries mentioned above, you can start downloading the latest update right away. You can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings » Software updates and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file appropriate to your smartphone from our database and flash it manually. More markets could get the update over the next few days.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy Note 20 series in the second half of 2020 with Android 10-based One UI 2.5. The two phones in the series received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update in December 2020 and the One UI 3.1 update in February 2021. They have been consistently getting monthly security updates since their launch.
