ASUS Zephyrus S GX701 is the first ROG laptop with a 300Hz display
ASUS announced the Zephyrus S GX701, a new 17-inch gaming laptop from the ASUS ROG line. The gaming laptop features a 300Hz display and is powered by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPU that is clocked up to 1230MHz at 100W in Turbo mode. The laptop will be released in October and at its time of release will have the fastest refresh rate on the market.
The 300Hz display is the highlight feature of the Zephyrus S GX701. The fast refresh rate improves the smoothness of gameplay in multiple ways. First, having more frames portrays motion more fluidly. The 300Hz panel is five times faster than standard laptop panels, and also faster than many high-end gaming monitors and displays that cap at 240Hz. Second, having more frames means that syncing technology like V-Sync can better synchronize frames. The 300Hz display is ready to draw a new frame every 3.3ms which matches the 3ms response time of the pixels.
The Zephyrus S GX701 pairs its fast refresh rate with powerful internals. The Zephyrus S GX701 comes with an NVIDIA RTX 2080 GPU clocked up to 1,230MHZ at 100W in Turbo mode. It runs on Intel’s 9th Gen H-Series chips. The internals will be able to power popular titles, and thanks to the RTX 2080 inside will be able to handle ray tracing as well.
