ASUS ROG Phone 3 to hit China a day later than the rest of the world

Asus and its gaming branch are going to launch the ROG Phone 3 on July 22, as confirmed twice. However, the company is planning a separate event in China, where we expect to see some special editions that will be targeted to the local audience.

The Republic of Gamers profile on Weibo posted a video, asking fans to tune in for a “powerful release” on July 23 at 7 PM local time, along with a short 10-second video.

The ROG Phone II had a Tencent-exclusive version in China that had less RAM and storage, but extra customizations and shortcuts for games, owned by the carrier and its gaming branch.

We expect something similar to happen with the ROG Phone 3, and that’s why there is a market-specific event. The custom version is likely to cost about 30-40% less, but it might be limited to a certain carrier.

Aside from the memory, nothing else is likely to change – we expect a phone with Snapdragon 865+ chipset, a 144 Hz refresh rate of the 6.59” OLED and a massive 6,000 mAh battery. The back was spotted with three cameras, the main one being 64 MP, but we doubt mobile gamers will care about the camera performance at all.
