Another Oppo Reno5 incoming, 4G-only with Snapdragon 720G

Oppo is going to unveil its Reno5 lineup later this week and we expected three devices – a vanilla Oppo Reno5 5G, a mightier Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G, and a flagship-tier Oppo Reno5 Pro+ 5G. However, the family might expand even further, as one leakster on Twitter revealed there is an Oppo Reno5 4G incoming with four cameras and SuperVOOC charging.

The LTE-only Reno5 will bring a 6.43” AMOLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. The front will also see a 44 MP selfie camera, while the quad setup on the back is 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP, the secondary likely coming with an ultra-wide-angle lens, the latter two are probably auxiliary sensors for fancy portrait and macro photos.

The chipset of this Reno5 4G is said to be Snapdragon 720G, but no word on RAM and storage. However, we do know something else that sits on the inside – the battery capacity of 4,310 mAh, said to have 50W fast charging, which is the SuperVOOC standard, introduced back in 2018.

Here’s where it gets interesting and even a bit confusing. In the past twelve months, Oppo launched its Reno devices in China with 5G, later expanding the monikers overseas with different chipsets and a tweaked design.

However, a question lingers – is Oppo planning to launch the Reno5 4G alongside the Reno5 5G in China, just like Xiaomi did with the Redmi 10X 4G and Redmi 10X 5G, or are we going to see an announcement in China for a global product, something that rarely happens in Oppo’s history.
