Android 13 One UI 5.0 update now live for Galaxy S21 in Canada

As you may have heard, Samsung would like to complete the Android 13 update rollout before the end of 2022, which means that the company’s real-world performance might beat its One UI 5.0 release roadmaps. A good example is how the Galaxy S21 series in Canada is now getting the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update when the Canadian roadmap suggested that the update should roll out in December.

Samsung is a few weeks early with its One UI 5.0 update, and this should be nothing but good news for Galaxy S21 customers in Canada. Android 13 is now available for the Galaxy S21, the S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The update, identified by firmware version G99xWVLU5DVK3, is available for the Galaxy S21 series across multiple network providers, including Virgin Mobile, EastLink, Bell Mobile, Fido Mobile, Globalive Wind Mobile, and SaskTel.

With the One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy S21 comes better optimization and a handful of new features. Post-update, Galaxy S21 users will have access to a new lock screen customization screen, better tools for managing background apps, a slightly redesigned Settings menu which now includes a dedicated “Connected devices” section, and more.

Samsung DeX users also get a moderately reworked UI through the One UI 5.0 update, as well as new taskbar settings and a Finder icon embedded in the taskbar. And if you’re a multi-window enthusiast but you always felt like the system feels a bit clunky, you might really like the new multi-window gesture options found in the Labs section of the Settings app. You can check out our videos below for a closer look at One UI 5.0 (running on the Galaxy S22).

Samsung Galaxy S21 users in Canada should now be able to download Android 13 and One UI 5.0 by tapping the update notification upon arrival or by opening the Settings app, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” As usual, you can also find the official firmware files on our website should you prefer to update your phone manually.
