An unpleasant trend from high-end Galaxy phones is coming even to affordable phones

When Apple removed the headphone jack and bundled earphones from iPhones seven years ago, most Android OEMs laughed it off, only to remove those things from their own phones just a couple of years later. The same happened with the smartphone charger bundled in the box. Now, almost all high-end Android smartphones lack a headphone jack and a bundled charger, and that trend is coming soon to affordable Galaxy devices.

Galaxy A14 reportedly doesn’t come with a charger in the box

According to tipster Ahmed Qwaider, the Galaxy A14 (non-5G model) will come without a bundled charging brick. If this report is correct, the Galaxy A14 will be Samsung’s cheapest smartphone to lack a charger inside the box. It will probably come with just a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable in the box for charging and data transfer. Most Chinese smartphone brands are still bundling high-power chargers and a USB cable in the box with their affordable and mid-range devices.

While companies claim that they’ve removed chargers from the box to reduce waste and make their products more environment-friendly, most of them still sell chargers with unnecessary packaging contributing to packaging waste. They profit a lot from lower shipping costs, as slimmer phone boxes consume less storage space in shipping containers.

The Galaxy A14 sports a 6.6-inch PLS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution. It features three rear-facing cameras, including a 50MP primary camera, and a 13MP front-facing camera. It has a 5,000mAh battery and 15W fast charging. It will come in three color options: Black, Lime, and Silver. It uses the Exynos 850 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, a microSD card slot, dual-SIM card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.
