AMD’s budget beast the Ryzen 5 3400G is at its lowest UK price ever

The AMD Ryzen 5 3400G is my favourite PC product of the year and as we’re hunting for deals on Cyber Monday this one jumped out. Currently reduced to £120, this is an extremely good value processor to put into any PC, or to form the heart of a capable budget gaming rig.

This discount also makes the 3400G cheaper than last years 2400G, and it’s worth every penny. You get four Ryzen CPU cores with hyperthreading paired with 11 Vega GPU cores. With a 65W TDP it runs quiet and cool with the included Wraith Spire cooler, and both CPU and GPU cores are unlocked if you’re down for a little overclocking.

For any PC this is a worthy heart, and because it has an integrated GPU unlike most of AMD’s other Ryzen chips, you don’t need a graphics card with it. That makes it a good starting point to upgrade your rig down the line, and honestly, it’s so good you can even game on it straight away.

When I reviewed the 3400G the gaming performance blew me away. On integrated graphics, games like F1 2019 are playable at 1080p, with medium settings at 60 FPS. Lighter games are monstered by the 3400G, and you can even get into some more demanding titles like Rise of the Tomb Raider at console-level performance.

If you’re looking to build a budget gaming rig, there’s no better starting point than this.
