AMD announces new processors and release date, pricing for Ryzen 7 5800X3D
AMD just made three major announcements for its Ryzen desktop processors. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor will begin shipping on April 20, 2022 with a starting price of $449. Six new chips, including three Zen 3 CPUs and three Zen 2 processors, were also announced. AMD will also officially enable Zen 3 architecture in Zen 3 motherboards.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the first Ryzen processor to have AMD 3D V-Cache technology. The CPU delivers 15% better performance than competitors without stacked cache tech, according to AMD. The Ryzen 5800X3D is an 8-core processor built to deliver 1080p gameplay for the best PC games.
The six other processors announced by AMD feature a range of architectures. Some of them include graphics while others do not.
AMD’s expansion of support for its Ryzen 5000 Series processors and AMD 300 Series chipsets should allow systems to seamlessly upgrade to Zen 3 performance. BIOS updates with support are expected in April and May, depending on the specific component.
