Amazingly, Galaxy A8 (2018) gets third montly security update in a row

Samsung surprised us last month when it released the September 2021 security patch for the Galaxy A8 (2018) just weeks after the August update went live, but lo and behold, the monthly hot streak continues. Samsung is now rolling out the October 2021 security patch for the Galaxy A8 (2018), which means that the smartphone has essentially been following a monthly security patch update schedule for the past three months.

Keep in mind that, years after its original release, the Galaxy A8 (2018) is supposed to be following a quarterly security patch schedule at best and biannually at worst, depending on whether it’s an enterprise model or isn’t.

But for whatever reason, the Galaxy A8 has been enjoying this special treatment from Samsung for the past few months. It could speak of vulnerabilities that affect the Galaxy A8 (2018) to a higher degree than they do other devices from its era, or it could be a coincidence.

How long can Samsung keep this up?

Whatever the reasons might be for these unexpected security patch releases for the Galaxy A8 (2018), they’re welcome, but it will be interesting to see how long Samsung will be able to keep this up. There’s no way to be sure, but feel free to leave a comment if you believe that the Galaxy A8 (2018) will receive the November 2021 security patch. What would be the odds of that happening?!

Back to the new October update for the Galaxy A8 (2018), it carries firmware version A530FXXSLCUJ1 and it’s presently rolling out in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Galaxy A8 (2018) users there should receive an update notification if they haven’t already, or they can try triggering the update from the Settings app — more specifically, the Software update menu.

As usual, SamMobile readers can also download official Samsung firmware files from our firmware database and install the updates manually on their phones using a PC.
