All signs point at Samsung preparing One UI 4.0 for public release soon

As you likely heard by now, the third Android 12-based One UI 4.0 beta update is now rolling out to beta testers in more countries. The latest release addresses some bugs and issues but isn’t as feature-rich as the first beta build. This might sound disappointing at first, but in reality, it suggests that Samsung’s beta firmware for the Galaxy S21 series is almost ready for a public release.

In fact, even though the latest changelog doesn’t seem very exciting, there’s one line, in particular, that seems to be hinting that the public One UI 4.0 beta build is almost ready for release. According to the new changelog, the third One UI 4.0 beta update is based on Google AOSP — the final Android 12 release.

This technically means that the underlying Android OS sitting under the latest One UI beta build is based on live Android 12 firmware. And if Samsung is done with that part, only certain issues related to One UI 4.0 stand between us and the first public build. In addition, the third One UI 4.0 beta build is accompanied by the November 2021 security patch, which will be included in the final release should it roll out next month.

Samsung previously said it wants to release Android 12 and One UI 4.0 before the end of 2021, and a community manager later hinted that a public release could happen as early as November. Given that the third One UI 4.0 beta update was based on the final Android 12 release, Samsung could soon close the beta program and launch One UI 4.0 for the masses. Time will tell, so stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more.
