Adobe apps will perform better on laptops, smartphones with Qualcomm chips

Besides announcing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, Qualcomm unveiled various other products and partnerships during the Snapdragon Technology Summit 2022 event. The company also revealed two new audio chips, a chipset for AR glasses, and new branding (Oryon) for its desktop-grade processors.

During the event, the company also revealed that it has collaborated with Adobe to bring improved performance and exclusive features to laptops, smartphones, and tablets using Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Fresco apps will soon run natively on Windows devices with Qualcomm’s ARM-based chipsets. These apps will arrive sometime in 2023. While Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom run natively on ARM Windows natively, they will get better in the future.

Adobe Qualcomm Partnership

Qualcomm is also working with Adobe to bring improved performance on XR projects on laptops using its ARM chipsets through Adobe Aero, its platform for building AR (Augmented Reality) experiences. Their goal is to offer creatives more ways to create content with Snapdragon Spaces. Additionally, Adobe’s AI engine (Adobe Sensei) will soon work on the AI Engine inside Qualcomm’s processors to bring advanced features like automotive background removal, color enhancement, and super-resolution.

Alex Katouzian, SVP & GM, MCX, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., said, “Snapdragon continues to represent premium experiences across multiple product categories, and we design our technology with users at the center to empower them to unleash their creativity from virtually anywhere and across their most personal devices. With Adobe, we’re working to bring the world’s most advanced creative and document tools to Snapdragon-powered devices for creators to enable future digital experiences.

Samsung currently has a couple of laptops—Galaxy Book S LTE and Galaxy Book Go 5G—featuring Windows and Snapdragon processors. These laptops will soon be able to run Adobe’s creative and documentation apps in a better way.
