Should you upgrade your GPU with Black Friday deals?
Unless you only recently upgraded the GPU in your gaming PC, it can be very tempting to pull the trigger on something shiny and new. And even then, a great Black Friday deal might be too hard to turn down.
EVGA’s NVIDIA RTX 2070, for example, might not be completely necessary, but it’s $100 off and just waiting to slide into your rig. It won’t beat out the newer NVIDIA Super models or the standard RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti GPUs, but it does deliver strong performance, especially for 1440p gaming. You’ll see high framerates from modern AAA games with demanding specs, and you’ll be able to take full advantage of all the perks with RTX technology. Want to see what ray tracing is all about? The RTX 2070 will deliver.
AMD hardware like the Radeon RX 580 is also well cut out for 1440p gaming, albeit without the RTX advantages. The NVIDIA RTX 2060 measures up well in terms of performance, plus it includes those RTX benefits.
Just want to add some dedicated horsepower without going overboard? Don’t care about pushing the limits of modern games and just want to enjoy some Minecraft or low-impact indie titles? Be sure to check out the NVIDIA GTX 1650, an awesome GPU for less than $200 this Black Friday
