Skagen Falster 3 leaks ahead of CES

It looks like CES is going to be a busy one for Fossil Group, and the Skagen Falster 3 has leaked on Amazon before it’s been officially announced.

This is great news, given that the Falster 2 is one of our favourite Wear OS smartwatches, thanks to its slim build – and now it looks to be given the Gen 5 treatment.

The listing on Amazon doesn’t really offer too much detail, so we’ll start with what we know.

There’s a 42mm case, with lugs for a 22mm strap – with a design that doesn’t appear to have overtly changed from the Falster 3. And there’s going to be four strap finishes: black silicone, blue silicone, gunmetal steel mesh, and leather.

The Amazon listing does reveal heart rate and activity tracking, built-in GPS and water resistance – so this again falls in line with other Gen 5 devices. Google Pay, Google Fit and standard notification features also get a namecheck.

The rest is what we’re assuming with educated guesses. The first is that the Falster 3 will get the latest Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform, which offers better performance while maintaining the same 24 hour battery life.

While many of Fossil Group’s Gen 5 smartwatches have fallen short of the expectations set by the likes of Apple and Samsung, we’re pleased that the Falster has been given an upgrade.

The hardware has been constantly some of the best on the market, and the move to Snapdragon 3100 should negate some performance issues.

The Falster 3 will launch on 20 January according to the Amazon listing and it will cost $295.
