Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 gets web browser – don’t ask us why

The Galaxy Watch 4 may have an impressive 1.4-inch, 450 x 450 Super AMOLED display – and that can now be put to use viewing the web.

A browser was available on Tizen-based Samsung smartwatches – so it’s another feature that’s made it over to the new-look Wear OS device.

We’re not sure it’s designed for getting your morning news fix or catching up with the latest news from Wareable – but it could be useful if opening links in emails or messages or quick information.

But it’s more feature-rich than you might imagine.

Gesture swipes mean you can navigate around a webpage. You can also swipe up to see bookmarks, and access a zoom tool.

And possibly most useful of all, you can send a webpage to your smartphone to read in its full glory.

Bookmarks and other features require syncing with the Samsung Internet browser, so we’re not sure that users of non-Samsung smartphones, or users of normal browsers will get any of the benefits.

It’s another string to the bow of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, which seriously impressed us in our review. It’s been catalyst for positive change for Wear OS, although the new Wear 3.0 hasn’t rolled out to any other smartwatches yet, and isn’t slated to land on the TicWatch Pro 3, TicWatch E3 or Fossil Gen 6 until 2022.

And while this is a Samsung app – it could end up joining the ranks of Wear 3.0 apps.
