​TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra drops with Afib detection

Mobvoi has launched an update to its flagship smartwatch – and the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra has finally landed.

Hot-on-the-heels of the launch of the TicWatch Pro X in China, the Pro 3 Ultra is an iterative update in terms of hardware, but adds some interesting new health features.

First up, the Pro 3 Ultra retains the 1.4-inch screen with the massive 454 x 454 resolution at 326ppi. It’s also the same dual-layer display that turns the AMOLED screen off to show a low-res FSTN screen.

That, in conjunction with the dual processor that runs alongside the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 chip, means the Pro 3 Ultra still offers 72 hours of battery life and 45 days in a low power mode.

And it still runs Wear OS, although it will ship with Wear 2.0. Mobvoi hasn’t confirmed that it will be upgraded to Wear 3.0 in 2022, like the existing TicWatch Pro 3, but this is surely a given. We’ve reached out for confirmation.

So what has actually changed?

The design has been refined, and from the press materials at least, the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra looks sleeker and more stylish with the etches bezel. However, the dimensions haven’t changed at all.

However, the new Pro 3 Ultra is tougher – and boasts US Military Standard 810G toughness.

But the PPG sensor can now deliver more health stats and this is the biggest change so far.

It features irregular heartbeat and AFib detection, and Mobvoi says it will ‘automatically alert you if your heartbeat is too fast, too slow or irregular.’

The watch doesn’t feature ECG, and this is done via algorithms using the heart rate sensor. It also has one eye on stress, and can provide ‘mental fatigue assessments.’

And finally, it will also report your energy levels, too and display this in the TicHealth app.
