Three new Moto 360s on the way – including square design

Three new Moto 360 devices are on the way, as details of the company’s 2021 plans leaked online.

The information has been released in sales material and spotted by Twitter user Felipe Berhau. It shows that there are three devices in coming – the Moto Watch, Motorola One and Moto G.

The Moto G looks to be getting a release first, with the leaked materials indicating a June 2021 release date.

It seems like the internals are also getting a big overhaul. Snapdragon 3100 looks to be powering Wear OS, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB storage.

It’s very much the Moto 360 reimagined, out for a fourth generation. The company behind its reboot, CE Brands (which licences trusted brands to badge up cheap tech), also released a New Moto 360 in 2019, with low grade specs and a ridiculous price tag. It seems the company may have a more realistic approach this time.

We know less about the other two devices.

The Moto Watch looks to have a square design, with strong Amazfit GTS 2 vibes – and of course a passing resemblance to the Apple Watch.

And that leaves the Motorola One, which we’re going to presume is a high-grade version perhaps with better materials. This could run on the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform.

We’re always happy to see the Moto 360 back – given its smartwatch royalty from back in the early days. The reboot in 2019 didn’t do the brand justice, but this looks like a more coherent offering.

There’s been a resurgence of interest in Wear OS, which is good news for Google given that we reported it accounted for just 3% of smartwatch shipments in 2020.

The company seems to be opening up to brands refining the on-watch experience, and improvements to Snapdragon Wear are adding features and battery life.

And rumors that Samsung may return to the platform are certainly interesting – albeit far from certain.

We’re expecting these Motorola smartwatches to land in June and July 2021, and will be watching closely for developments.
