Polar launches Ignite 2 and Vantage M2 in sports watch shake-up

Polar has launched two new sports GPS smartwatches, as two of its more affordable devices get a makeover.

The Polar Vantage M2 is a reimagining of its mid-range running watch, and delivers some of the features from its high-end devices.

And the Polar Ignite 2 adds bigger battery life, and ups longevity to 20 hours of GPS training or 5 days of smartwatch user – whichever comes first.

Polar Ignite 2

A major part of the new Polar Ignite 2 is a visual overhaul. A glitzy Swarovski version joins new colors, and an engraved bezel adds a dose of style.

It comes in pink, blue, champagne (gold) and black. The Ignite 2 has always been aimed (not exclusive) at women, more than the rest of the Polar range – but it doesn’t hold back on a big spec sheet.

The Ignite 2 offers GPS tracking, 100 sport profiles, in-depth sleep and recovery data and FitSpark workout suggestions – as well as the Weekly Summary feature of your efforts. Naturally, heart rate is a big part of the piece, and it also features guided breathing modes, too.

The Ignite 2 has a price tag of £199.99 and goes on sale in April.

Polar Vantage M2

The Polar Vantage M2 is aimed at serious runners, and the feature set is geared towards goal-based training. It sits below the Vantage V2, which is one of the most data-heavy sports watches on the market.

The Vantage M2 brings the FuelWise feature from the GritX outdoor watch, helping users fuel for training runs and races, alerting you when to take on food and liquid.

That joins the adaptive running training plans and Training Load Pro assessment of your workouts, which puts the Vantage M2 above the Ignite 2 for those seriously dedicated to running, and getting the most from their body.

The Vantage M2 still packs in the same FitSpark suggested workouts, sleep and nightly recharge tracking and optical HR sensor from the rest of the line-up.

The Vantage M2 is set to cost £269.99 when it goes on sale, and is already available to pre-order.
